(January 27, 2012) – The Westfield Memorial Library is pleased to announce that the Westfield Memorial Library Foundation recently donated the needed funds to pay for the re-upholstery of nine chairs and love seats in the Youth Services Department.
Dressed in jewel tones of sage green, mermaid blue, grape and coral, the three love seats, two adult chairs and four children’s chairs are covered in a durable, easy-to-clean material that coordinates with the gaily patterned carpet.
Foundation President Roger Sullivan said, “This project was on the library’s wish list and our organization was thrilled to help fund this worthy project. Seeing children enjoy their time at the library is very rewarding experience, and our foundation hopes to help fund other projects of this kind-- as our funds allow.”
He added that “collaborations between public and private enterprises represent a very logical and effective model, especially during difficult economic times. Through our joint efforts, it is hoped that the library can always maintain its special role in the community –as a center of learning and enjoyment for residents of all ages.”
Coordinator of Youth Services Kathy Muhm said, “The library is very grateful to the Library Foundation for this special gift, which serves to make our space so much more welcoming to all our families.”
